A solar thermal driven ORC-VFR system employed in subtropical Mediterranean climatic building

This paper investigates the configuration of solar thermal collector driven organic Rankine cycle (ORC) utilized to power air-conditioning system two-story office building in Paralimni, Cyprus, through a Variable-Refrigerant-Flow (VRF) system. The reason choose this Mediterranean climate is due its higher dependency on fossil fuels compared many other countries EU and with high potential harnessing irradiations demand for (AC) loads. location categorized as warm temperate zones, subtropical climates placed subcategory humid winters dry summers according climatic zone, highly demanding air conditioning. Based data study area, can make an effective performance. Modeling estimating AC consumption carried out DesignBuilder. Designing done EES. A hot water designed TRNSYS supply required mass flow rate at desired temperature 95 °C. In climate, annual surface irradiation 1,793 kWh/m2 whilst energy requirement 7,909 kWh. employed ORC internal heat exchanger constant output 3.920 kW, which delivers total 8,154 kWh yearly. input supplied by system, employing evacuated tube collectors. consumes 454 auxiliary heating per year deliver outlet ORC. As result, solar-driven net (8,154 – 454) = 7,700 each year, meaning saving equal 97% VRF demand. amount yearly yields 2,010 USD capital reward investment defining 20-year project, implementation generation end project's lifetime would save 25,049 USD.
